Signs and symptoms of diabetes mellitus:

DIABETES MELLITUS commonly known as Diabetes, which is a chronic progressive metabolic disease causes "High Blood Sugar Levels" in the body. According to the latest survey of W.H.O, more than 346 million diabetic patients across worldwide and to their estimations it will double by 2030. The genesis of this disease is predominantly due to the lack of INSULIN hormone, which is secreted by Pancreas. This hormone will control glucose levels in the blood.

The three main types of Diabetes are;

1:  Type 1 DM- This is caused because of insufficient insulin secreted by the pancreas and called as IDDM (Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus).
2: Type 2 DM- This is caused because of the body cells not responding to the insulin hormones and called as NIDDM (Non Insulin Dependent Diabetes Mellitus).
3: Gestational Diabetes- This is caused during pregnancy in women, where insulin receptors do not function properly during their 3rd trimester.

Signs and Symptoms:

Symptoms of diabetes are weight loss, polyuria (frequent urination), polydipsia (often feeling thirst), Polyphagia (constantly feeling hunger), and includes blurry vision, headache, fatigue, slow healing of cuts and wounds, itchy skin. High glucose levels in blood can cause glucose absorption in the eye, which change the shape and vision of eye. In some patients diabetes lead to chronic kidney diseases, this leads to kidney transplantations. If the glucose levels are being prolonged in the body without any proper treatment, the effects of the disease will more which completely ruin the metabolism of the body functions, such as feeling unease, over sweating, trembling, and serious issues like changes in behaviour, confusion, unconsciousness and sometimes brain gets damaged permanently and it may leads to death in many criteria’s.

The serious reasons of causing diabetes are HBP (High Blood Pressure), Lack of exercise, High cholesterol levels, Smoking, Alcohol consumption. In order to control the sugar levels, diabetes patients have to control their blood pressure levels by doing meditation early in the morning. They have to perform exercises to control cholesterol, which helps the patient to maintain normal body weight. Patient have to go through some medications like Insulin injection for type 1 DM and Metformin for type 2 DM. If there is a prolonged sugar levels in the body, patients have to go through some surgeries like pancreas transplantation or kidney transplantation, sometimes weight loss surgery for obesity.

Prevention is always better than cure. 

So everyone should habituate some rules in their daily life to prevent not only diabetes but also one can increase their immunity power and can resist our body from any kind of diseases which affects our happiness. For that we have to maintain normal body weight by doing physical exercises in early morning, doing meditation, following healthy diet strictly like whole grains, fiber, good fats like polyunsaturated fats found in nuts, vegetables oils and fish etc; and avoid eating red meat, smoking, alcohol consumption and junk foods which consists of saturated fats and cancer causing elements.
