Signs and Symptoms of Genital Herpes

Genital Herpes is solely a sexually transmitted viral genital infection affects both men and women irrespective of any gender. This disease is also known as Herpes Genitalis caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV).  The HSV can be classified into two types HSV-1 and HSV-2.  In the earlier days genital herpes usually caused by HSV-2 virus but now a days the infection causing by HSV-1 is increasing day by day.At present 80% infections are caused by the HSV-1 virus. This disease also termed as Elsberg syndrome.This disease is reported as most common sexually transmitted infection to human. 

Being a sexual transmitted disease (STD) this virus spreads mainly by the sexual interaction. It is not possible to be aware for many people that they are affected by the virus at the early stage as this disease may not show any proper symptom initially but they become contagious to other unaffected persons. The virus lies dominant in the human body after the primary infection can perform several reactivations in a year causing more probability of infections too. Genital HSV-1 infection recurs at rate of about one sixth of that of genital HSV-2. Genital herpes cannot be cured totally but medication can control it properly and reduce the chance of making others affected by the virus. 

Condoms also can help a lot to prevent the transmission of the virus at the time of sexual interaction.
 Like other diseases this disease also has some unique symptoms though most people cannot experience any symptoms as they are mildat the early stage of the disease. 

The symptoms of this disease vary from person to person. Some of the usual symptoms are discussed in the following:
 
  • Pain &itching: Pain or itching that begins within two to 10 days after exposure to an infected sexual partner. This is the preliminary symptom of this disease. This is pain or itching can be reduced by the use of proper medicines.
  • Appearance of Lesions: Lesions may be found on the penis, anus or in other genital regions of the male persons who are affected by this disease. In the females patient same symptoms may be found near the pubis, clitoris, or any other genital parts.
  • Myalgia: Myalgia is one of the most common symptoms of this disease causing mild to severe muscle pains.
  • Discharging of penis or vagina may also be a symptom for this disease after the severe infection caused by the HSV.
  • Formation of tiny red bump occurs after some days from the person being affected by the virus.
  • Inflammation of the anus and rectum is the most common symptom for individuals affected by HSV virus participating in anal intercourse which is also known as Herpetic proctitis.
  • Acute urinary retention can be caused as a result of this disease.
  • Rashes may arise at the genital region of the affected patient results finally to inflammation.
