Signs and Symptoms of Urinary Tract Infections

Urinary tract infection is a bacterial disease which either affects the urinary tract or the urinary bladder irrespective of any age of persons. This is disease is gender specific that’s why affects men and women both. The bacteria, E.coli is mainly responsible for the outbreak of this disease (80%-85% cases caused by E.coli) though in 5%-10% cases this disease is caused by Staphylococcus saprophyticus

It is very rare case when virus or fungi are responsible for the outbreak of this disease Actinomycetes, Proteus mirabilis, P.aeruginosa, and Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Streptococcus faecalis, Nocardia, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Candida etc. may also become a cause for the outcome of this urinary tract infection. In addition Mycoplasma and Chlamydia may be associated with sexually transmitted UTI.The infection of lower urinary tract (Bladder) is usually known as simple cystitis though the kidney infection refers to the infection of the upper urinary tract caused as a result of this disease.

Women are more affected by this disease than man showing a sexual biasness. Half of the women have this infection for short to long time period in any time of their lives. Family history, sexual intercourse is the most common risk factors for this disease. Sexual activity is the cause of outbreak of this disease in young women. Infected blood or lymph can also play an important role for the outbreak of this disease. Urinalysis is a useful procedure through which we can detect this disease by the presence of urinary nitrites or white blood cells in the urine.

There is a basic difference between the sign & symptoms of any disease. Symptoms are only felt by the patient whereas the signs can be detected by both the patient and the doctors.Like other diseases this disease also has some unique symptoms which may vary from mild to severe. The symptoms may last for 6 days in a healthy woman.
