 One of the oldest nuts that were commonly used in the world is pistachio. It was originated in Asia, particularly Iran and Iraq. The relationship between man and pistachios dated back to more than six thousand years. Today it is available in various forms such as shelled, without shell, salted or sweetened. Pistachios belong to the Anacardiaceae family. The tree takes about 10 to 12 years to produce the first crop.
