Being one of major spices, cumin forms an integral part of various dishes in our country. Cumin is more commonly known as ‘Jeera’ which is actually a tiny seed of an annual plant that belongs to the parsley family, native to the Mediterranean. The scientific name of this spice is Cuminum Cyminum. 

It provided some major health benefits to us which are discussed in brief in the following:
·         Improvement of gastro intestinal system: Cumin plays an important role in the improvement of the digestive system of human as well as other physiological activities which are related to gastro intestinal system. Cuminaldehyde is one of the important substances which are present in cumin. This facilitates the primary digestion of the food by activating the salivary gland which is situated in our mouth.
·          Prevent piles: Piles are usually caused due to constipation which is followed with infection in the anal tract. Cumin constitutes of high amount of dietary fibre which prevent the constipation thus lower the possibility of getting affected by piles.

Being an anti-oxidant vitamin C facilitates the increase in the production of the white blood cells in our body which are main components of our immune system.
·         Prevents boils: Boils mainly cased due to the presence of the toxic substance as well as the foreign matters in our body. Cuminaldehyde, thymol, and phosphorusare present in the cumin which acts as the detoxifying agents. That’s why higher intake of cumin reduces the possibility of boils, rashes, pimples etc.
