SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF GOUT


A major public concern is Gout, identified in 2640 BC. It is a very painful condition with increasing numbers of suffering people. It is a complex form of inflammatory arthritis which occurs all of a sudden followed by pains. There are preventive and treatable ways to avoid and reduce the risk of such a painful condition. It occurs due to excess amounts of uric acid in the bloodstream. It is mostly effects the joint on the big toe. Serious cases of Gout may lead to formation of kidney stones. It is more likely to affect men but women get more venerable after menopause. 

Some of the factors that might give rise to Gout are age and gender, the individual genetics, the choice of lifestyle, chronic lead exposure, certain medications, being overweight, high blood pressure, diabetes, etc. Gout is hard to diagnose, there are few ways such as the joint fluid test and blood test. Commonly used medicines to treat Gout are NSAID’s, corticosteroids and colchicine. To prevent Gout 2 to 4 litres of water a day is recommended, avoid alcohol, maintaining body weight, eating balanced diet, cutting down on the consumption of fish meat and other poultry items.

The symptoms of Gout become visible suddenly, very often in middle of the night when one is unaware. Usually the symptoms of this disease vary from person to person according to the severity of the disease. This is disease can be easily recognized by its unique symptoms. The signs and symptoms of this disease always appear suddenly without any prior warning that’s why it becomes very uncomfortable to the person who is affected by this disease. 

Some of the common symptoms of this disease are described in brief in the following:

·       Intense joint pains leading to discomfort.
·       Swelling and redness is seen on the skiing surface.
·       Gout usually affects the joint of the big toe but may also be found on ankles, knees, wrists, elbows and fingers as well.
·       The pain which is caused by this disease is excruciating. The patient feels very much uncomfortable even by the weight of the bed-sheet.
·       The body skin becomes stretched as well as itchy too.
·       If the persons are not affected acutely by this disease, then the joint becomes warm as well as tender too instead of the appearance of the pain.
·       Tophi may also be seen in the hand and fingers of the person who is affected by this disease.
·       Sometimes fever occurred as a side effect of this disease but this symptom is so much common like other. In this case the body temperature of the body becomes higher than the normal that is 100°F usually. No medicine needs to be applied to reduce the body temperature as it usually cures by the immune system of the body.
·       Individuals who are suffering from gout have a high risk of being affected by the kidney problems as the uric acid as well as other substances is not getting filtered properly from the human body.
